Natural gas rates have long remained low here in Middle Tennessee, which is one reason why custom home builders are choosing to install gas furnaces in luxury housing communities.
“A heat pump will heat your house but a lot of times the air isn’t as warm as compared to a gas furnace,” says David Mossor, our residential construction manager.
Gas furnaces are also efficient and offer consistent heat, which are two especially attractive features whenever winter temps fall below freezing.
All of this explains why Hannah Custom Homes chose to use gas furnaces at Villas on the Greens, a new gated community in historic Gallatin, with the furnace installation work completed by our technicians here at Jewell Mechanical.
At Villas on the Greens we also installed the gas lines under each of the community’s quadruplexes, and then ran gas piping to all of the appliances and fireplaces, including the tankless water heaters. “Each unit has two systems, one for the first level and one for the second level,” says Mossor.
Tankless water heaters are commonly used on new construction in Middle Tennessee, as they have many advantages over standard tank water heaters.
Tankless Water Heater Advantages include:
- Lower utility bills, as tankless units heat water as needed
- Tankless units also take up less space and have a longer lifespan
- No chance of a ruptured tank causing a water heater flood
At Villas on the Greens we also installed the venting on the roof of each unit (serving the furnaces, water heaters, and bath fans), as well as the HVAC units pictured here.
