If you’ve been to the Gulch in the past month or two, you’ve probably noticed the new World Gym Music City. It’s the first Nashville location for the Southern California-based and internationally-recognized fitness & bodybuilding brand World Gym International.
One of over 210 franchised World Gym locations, the 25,000-square-foot facility is located at 114 George L. Davis Blvd and is best remembered as the former home of the Music City Antique Gallery and Music City Auction.
The gym—owned by Gulch resident Johnny Wilkins—is a 24-hour facility that occupies both floors of the building and features cardio equipment, strength machines, free weights and cable machines, as well as locker rooms, massage lounges, and a small retail area, among many other amenities.
Transforming the decades-old building into a gleaming, first-class fitness facility was a major project that included a complete revamp of the building’s heating and air conditioning system. This task was completed by Jewell Mechanical’s commercial HVAC installation team in advance of the grand opening.
The New Commercial HVAC System Includes…
- Two 12.5 ton roof top units with curbs, economizers and power exhaust
- Five 10-ton split systems with economizers
- A 1.5 ton ductless split system
- Three exhaust fans
All insulated refrigerant piping was utilized, along with all sheet metal duct systems with hangers, flex, manual volume dampers, fire smoke dampers and louvers. Duct systems include supply and return for all systems, and outside air and relief air for split systems.
Jewell Mechanical Commercial Projects
At Jewell Mechanical, we’re privileged to have been a part of the World Gym Music City project. World Gym has a rich, four-decade long history and is connected to celebrities likes Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno, and we’re excited about the expansion to Nashville.
World Gym is also excited about its new location. “Nashville appreciates authenticity, and World Gym has a long legacy of serious fitness,” said Wilkins.
“When I moved to the Gulch, I was disappointed in my options for a full-service gym anywhere nearby. Living in such an exciting and vibrant neighborhood, I decided there needed to be an equally enjoyable gym experience downtown,” Wilkins concluded.
The World Gym Music City project is the latest in a long line of large commercial projects Jewell Mechanical has completed, including the Ensworth Middle School Gymnasium, the Greyhound Bus Terminal and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Distribution Center.
